CROSS TALK INTERMEDIA FESTIVAL

One of three silk-screen posters Karen created for CROSS TALK INTERMEDIA in 1969. Planning to explore the unfamiliar medium of silk-screen printing, she purchased the necessary items and began work on her own terms.

In addition to the Hijikata poster shown elsewhere, Karen Reynolds made two others, one for each of CROSS TALK INTERMEDIA’s three nights. Above is one based on a domestic image of composer Gordon Muma playing his French horn with a young admirer watching. The geometry of this portrait is sharply contrasted with that of the Hijikata image that seems to float in a void.
